Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Copenhagen

Ranked as one of the world's greenest and most pleasant cities by the New York Times, Copenhagen is a modern capital with deep roots in the past.
Welcoming, dynamic, lively and charming, it's also an ideal starting point for exploring both Denmark and Sweden.

Accommodation in Copenhagen.

 Day 2: Copenhagen

Spend the day exploring the city. We recommend a stroll through Strøget, the pedestrian shopping street. Copenhagen is built on an island, so you'll want to explore its canals by boat or on foot. You can also visit the Royal Palace at Amalienborg and the Latin Quarter with Sankt Petri Church. Don't miss Christiansborg and Rosenborg castles, the Town Hall, the Carlsberg factory, the Little Mermaid, the National Museum and Tivoli Park.

Accommodation in Copenhagen.

 Day 3: Copenhagen – Malmö – Ystad (+/- 95 km)

Crossing the Øresund bridge between Denmark and Sweden, you arrive in Malmö, Sweden's 4th largest city. Malmö is a small, friendly city with a wide range of cultural sights, restaurants and excellent cafés. You'll then continue on your way to Ystad. The small town of Ystad is world-famous for its novel character, Inspector Wallander. It's as beautiful as it looks in the movies and TV series, with its small medieval timber-framed houses in pastel shades.

Accommodation in Ystad.

 Day 4: Ystad – Borgholm - Öland Island (+/- 310 km)

During this day's drive, you'll follow the Swedish coastline. You may want to make a few stops to see the beaches and perhaps even take a dip in the Baltic Sea. Then, on the way up to the Öland island, you'll pass through the town of Kalmar, where your hotel is located. This is one of Sweden's oldest cities, where the union of the three kingdoms of Sweden, Norway and Denmark was signed.

Accommodation on the island of Öland.

Day  5: Borgholm – Öland  Island

The sun, the sea and long white sandy beaches will be highlights of the day. Take the 6 km-long Ölandsbron bridge, which links the town of Kalmar to Öland. The sunny island of Öland is a popular vacation destination for Swedish families! We recommend visiting Borgholm Castle and the restored fortress of Eketorp. On the southern part of the island, you can step back in time by visiting the Gettlinge necropolis, or the vast limestone plateau of Stora Alvaret, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you're not into giant limestone plateaus, you might like to try Öland's zoo and fun park.

Accommodation on the island of Öland.

Day 6: Borgholm – Jönköping (+/- 250 km)

On the way to Jönköping, you'll travel through the Småland region, with its tall trees, vast forests and farmland, and around five thousand lakes where you can fish, swim or canoe. In Småland, you're in the kingdom of crystal and furniture (IKEA). Since 1742, the world's most famous glass works have been produced here. At the end of the day, you'll arrive in Jönköping, a small town south of Lake Vättern.

Accommodation in Jönköping.

Day 7: Jönköping – Gothenburg (+/- 145 km)

In the morning, you'll get to enjoy the shores of Lake Vättern and even visit the small village of Grana, located north of Jönköping, a pretty little town known for its famous candy canes. You'll then head west towards Gothenburg. Gothenburg is well-known for its restaurants, culture and vibrant nightlife. The city is also composed of an archipelago of thousands of islands.

Accommodation in Gothenburg.

Day 8: Gothenburg

Free day in Gothenburg. We recommend a guided tour of the city center on the famous “Paddan” boats. If you're looking for something a little more sensational, there's Northern Europe's biggest amusement park, “Liseberg”, to suit the whole family! In Gothenburg, you'll find fashion boutiques, department stores, markets... The Nordstan shopping centre, in the old Haga district, is one of the largest in Europe, offering a wide range of antiques and the wonderful “Feskekôrka” covered market for freshly caught fish.

Accommodation in Gothenburg.

Day 9: Gothenburg – Malmö (+/- 275 km)

Drive to Malmö, along the coast of Sweden. In Malmö, you can visit Malmöhus Castle, the town hall and the old town with its pedestrian streets, shops and cafés. We also recommend Ribersborg beach, a two-kilometre stretch of fine sand built in the 1920s. After a stroll through the parks around the Stadion, take a leisurely stroll along the seafront to the beach.

Accommodation in Malmö.

Day 10: Malmö – Copenhagen Airport

Leave Malmö and head towards Copenhagen airport according to your own itinerary.
