Facing North

Day 1: Arrival in Oslo

Arrival in Oslo airport (flight not included). You will be welcomed by our tour leader (language spoken dependent on the guest) as well as our driver. Depart for a 4-hours guided tour of the Norwegian capital with a locally certified guide. In the program: the Polar ship museum Fram, Vigeland sculpture park and a panoramic tour showing the City Hall, the Royal Palace and the Akershus Fortress.
Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel in the city center of Oslo.

Please note that to be able to do this program, the arrival in Oslo must be before 14:00 at the latest.

Day 2: Oslo – Alta (flight) - Honningsvåg

Scandinavian breakfast. Transfer to Gardemoen Oslo Airport. Domestic flight to Alta (Flight not included in our prices). Arrival in Alta for a light lunch. Visit the open-air museum of rock paintings, then drive through Finnmark to Kåfjord. Crossing through the tunnel to Honningsvåg on the island of Magerøy. Dinner. Then during the evening, excursion to the North Cape by local coach. The North Cape has been a popular tourist attraction since the turn of the century. This 300-metre-high black rock overlooks the   vastness of the Arctic Ocean. Return to the hotel and overnight.

Day 3: Honningsvåg - Tromsø

Scandinavian breakfast. Back to the mainland by the undersea tunnel between Honningsvåg and Kåfjord. Continuation through the Finnmark plateau, the largest and the most northern region of Europe, where you might have the opportunity to see reindeer herds. Lunch on the way. The trip continues along the Altafjord and through the Kvænangsfjell mountains. Board 2 ferries: Olderdalen – Lyngseidet and Svensby – Breivikeidet to reach the arctic city of Tromsø. Tromsø is the world’s most northern university town.

Day 4: Tromsø - Vesterålen

Scandinavian breakfast. Free morning in Tromsø in order to discover this beautiful city of North Norway on your own. Lunch and continuation in the direction of Gratangen then to Bjervik not far from Narvik, the stage of terrible fighting during the 2nd World War. Branch off and head for the Vesterålen islands, passing through the Snofjellet mountains and along the Otofjorden fjord. 
Dinner and overnight stay in the Vesterålen islands.

Day 5: Vesterålen - Lofoten

Scandinavian breakfast. Drive towards Lofoten Islands along the new Lofast road. A day devoted to discovering this paradise on earth, with stops in small fishing villages. This archipelago is famous for its fishing industry, its buildings on stilts - the "rorbuer" - and its spectacular scenery.

Day 6: Lofoten - Rognan

Scandinavian breakfast. Ferry crossing on the Vestfjord between Lødingen and Bognes or between Moskenes and Bodø (depending on availability and schedule). Lunch on the way and continuation towards Bodø. Drive through a region where mountains and ocean meet, until you reach your hotel.
Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in the Fauske / Rognan region.

Day 7: Rognan - Steinkjer

Scandinavian breakfast. Departure towards Mo I Rana. Stop at the artic circle in the Saltfjell mountains. This imaginary line corresponds to a scientific reality: it is the limit north of which, in summer, the sun does not set. Lunch in the Mosjøen region. Continue along the Namsen river, a fisherman's paradise.
Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel in Steinkjer area.

Day 8: Steinkjer - Trondheim - Otta

Scandinavian breakfast. Drive to Trondheim, where the Norwegian Kings are crowned. Lunch. Entrance and visit of the Nidaros cathedral. (Subject to opening hours). Short free time to discover in a more personal way and continuation towards Oppdal and Otta passing by Dovrefjell plateau, home to many muskox.

Day 9: Otta - Sognefjord - Bergen

Scandinavian breakfast. Early departure to Lom. Photo stop to discover one of the most beautiful wooden church of the country (entrance not included). Continuation towards Sognefjell road along Jotunheimen national park. Arrive on the banks of the Sognefjord and board a boat for a cruise of around 2 hours on the king of fjords! Lunch served on board in the form of a typical Norwegian packed lunch. Continuation to Voss and arrival in Bergen.

Day 10: Departure from Bergen

Scandinavian breakfast. 2 hours city sightseeing of Bergen with a locally certified guide (language spoken depending on the client). During this tour you will discover the harbour, the Hanseatic area dominated by the Rosenkrantz tower, the fish market and an orientation tour of the city. Transfer to Bergen Airport and help with formalities.
Note that depending on the flight schedule, the guided tour can be done on the evening of the day 9.
