Your clients will set off to discover Tromsø, Alta, and the North Cape for a memorable stay above the Arctic Circle! This journey begins in Tromsø, the capital of Norwegian Lapland and a prime location for observing the Northern Lights. Travellers will then drive through the sublime and icy landscapes of Norwegian roads. Stop in Alta to visit dog sledding enthusiasts, then continue to the mythical globe at the North Cape, symbolizing the roof of Europe.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tromsø
Arrival at Tromsø Airport, transfer (not included) to the center of Tromsø, the beautiful Arctic city, and check-in at the hotel. The rich history of this city has earned it two nicknames. The first is the “Paris of the North” due to the numerous trade relations with France during the 19th century and the number of cafes and bars. The second is the “Gateway to the Arctic” because for many decades, this city was the heart of Arctic hunting and the starting point for the most legendary expeditions.

Accommodation in Tromsø.

Note: To go from/to the airport to the city/from city center we advise you to take a low carbon emission transfer such as, the airport shuttle ”Flybussen” or an electrical car.

Day 2: Tromsø & Aurora Chase
Scandinavian breakfast at the hotel. Explore Tromsø at leisure. In the late afternoon, departure for a Northern Lights chase! A transfer of about 1.5 hours will take clients to Camp Tamok. Due to its geographical location, Camp Tamok is an ideal place to watch the Northern Lights dance in the sky. Appropriate clothing and a light hot meal will be included. Return to Tromsø around midnight.

Accommodation in Tromsø.

Optional: We suggest a morning snowmobile excursion through the Arctic landscapes of the Tamok Valley, where you can also discover Sami culture. This excursion takes place at the same location as the evening Northern Lights chase.

Day 3: Tromsø - Samuelsberg
Scandinavian breakfast at the hotel. Pick up the rental car (not included) in the city center in the morning, then drive along the E8. The days are short at this time of year, and the light reflecting off the fjord and snow-covered mountains is unique! For part of the journey, you will follow the mountain range known as the Lyngen Alps. These steep mountains dramatically plunge into the fjord and are very popular for ski touring. Clients will settle into a traditional cabin along the fjord for the night.

Accommodation in the Lyngen Alps area.

Day 4: Road to Alta & Dog Sledding
Drive towards Alta on the E6. The wild and snow-covered landscapes are breathtaking. In the afternoon, head to Trasti og Trine for a dog sledding excursion. The ride will take clients through the forest, across open landscapes, and along the Alta River or on frozen sections. Once back at the kennels, they can relax around a campfire with a hot drink and enjoy homemade pastries.

Accommodation in the Alta area.

Day 5: From Alta to Honningsvåg
Departure towards Honningsvåg and the North Cape cliff. Travellers will cross frozen and wild landscapes while driving on white roads. Arrival in Honningsvåg, a small fishing village located on the island of Magerøya.

Day 6: North Cape
Scandinavian breakfast at the hotel. Departure towards the North Cape. For over 300 years, travellers have journeyed here to discover the northernmost point of Europe. This imposing cliff has become one of Norway’s most visited sites. You can also visit the Nordkapphallen, a visitor center with a wide range of facilities. To access it, you will need to catch the convoy opened by a snowplough from Skarsvågkrysset (located about a 30-minute drive from Honningsvåg). There are two departures in the morning (11 AM and 12 PM), but we highly recommend the first one, which is open only to individuals.
