This tour has been a succesful classic for years! Discover the Lofoten and Vesterålen islands, the great North with Tromsø and Lyngen region. Let yourself be enchanted by the beauty of Northern Norway !

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Alta

Arrival in Alta airport (flight not included), in Northern Norway. You will be welcomed by our tour leader (language spoken dependent on the guest) as well as our driver. Transfer to the hotel.
Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel in Alta.


Day 2: Alta - Honningsvåg

Scandinavian breakfast. Visit the open-air museum of rock paintings, then meeting with Sami people who herd reindeers. You will get the chance to visit their enclosure and feet them! Typical Same lunch, then drive through Finnmark to Kåfjord. Crossing through the tunnel to Honningsvåg on the island of Magerøy. Dinner. Then during the evening, excursion to the North Cape by local coach. The North Cape has been a popular tourist attraction since the turn of the century. This 300-metre-high black rock overlooks the vastness of the Arctic Ocean. Return to the hotel and overnight.

Day 3: Honningsvåg - Alta - Tromsø

Scandinavian breakfast. Back to the mainland by the undersea tunnel between Honningsvåg and Kåfjord. Continuation through the Finnmark plateau, the largest and the most northern region of Europe, where you might have the opportunity to see reindeer herds. Lunch on the way. The trip continues along the Altafjord and through the Kvænangsfjell mountains. Board 2 ferries: Olderdalen – Lyngseidet and Svensby – Breivikeidet to reach the arctic city of Tromsø. Tromsø is the world’s most northern university town.
Dinner and overnight stay in Tromsø.


Day 4: Tromsø - Vesterålen

Scandinavian breakfast. Free morning in Tromsø in order to discover this beautiful city of North Norway on your own. Lunch and continuation towards Gratangen then to Bjervik not far from narvik, scene of terrible fighting during the 2nd World War. Branch off and head for the Vesterålen islands, passing through the Snofjellet mountains and along the Otofjorden fjord.
Dinner and overnight stay in the Vesterålen islands.


Day 5: Vesterålen - Lofoten

Scandinavian breakfast. Drive towards Lofoten Islands along the new Lofast road. A day devoted to discovering this paradise on earth, with stops in small fishing villages. This archipelago is famous for its fishing industry, its buildings on stilts - the "rorbuer" - and its spectacular scenery.
Dinner and overnight stay in the Lofoten islands


Day 6: Lofoten

Scandinavian breakfast. Depart on a 3-hour cruise on a electrical boat, to discover the magnificient Trollfjord and the sea-eagles that live in this region. Lunch, then rest of the afternoon dedicated to enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Lofoten islands, with several stops on white-sanded beaches and typical fishermen’s villages.
Dinner and overnight stay in the Lofoten islands.


Day 7: Lofoten - Bodø

Scandinavian breakfast. Ferry crossing on the Vestfjord between Lødingen and Bognes or between Moskenes and Bodø (depending on availability and schedule). Lunch on the way and continuation towards Bodø.
Dinner and overnight stay in Bodø.


Day 8: Departure from Bodø

Scandinavian breakfast. Transfer to Bodø airport and help with formalities.

• 7 nights accommodation in hotels of tourism category (local standard).

Excursions & activities

• Full board from dinner of the first day to breakfast of the last day. Lunch 2 courses or buffets, dinners 3 courses or buffets. Always included coffee/tea and tap water.

Local tip

Stockfish (Tørrfisk) is one of Lofoten’s most iconic and historic foods, a centuries-old tradition that has shaped the region’s culture and economy. It is air-dried Arctic cod, preserved naturally by the cold, salty winds of Lofoten during winter. You can try stockfish in several delicious ways in local restaurants.
